13TPH Raymond Mill & European Type Grinding Mill for Calcium Carbonate Powder in Kazakhstan
Project Background
Kazakh Mineral Resources LLP, a mineral processing company headquartered in Almaty, Kazakhstan, identified a growing regional demand for ground calcium carbonate powder from the plastics, rubber, and paint industries in Central Asia. The company's technical director, Mr. Arman Bekova, began evaluating grinding mill suppliers in mid-2022. He conducted targeted searches on Google for "calcium carbonate grinding mill manufacturer" and found Xianglong Machinery's official website ranking prominently, with detailed product pages for both the Raymond Mill and the European Type Grinding Mill. Arman also found XLM's LinkedIn company page, which featured project case studies and technical articles, further reinforcing his confidence in the supplier's expertise.
Channel Communication and Needs Assessment
Mr. Bekova sent a connection request and direct message via LinkedIn, and within 24 hours he was in contact with XLM's Central Asia business development manager, Ms. Grace Tang. Grace arranged a Teams video conference with Arman and XLM's grinding specialist, Mr. Henry Wu, to discuss the project requirements. The calcite deposit in Kazakhstan had a Mohs hardness of 3, a whiteness of 92-95%, and a feed size of approximately 30 mm after primary jaw crushing. The target output was 13 tonnes per hour of ground calcium carbonate at two fineness grades: 10 TPH at 325 mesh (D97=44 microns) for standard plastics and rubber applications, and 3 TPH at 600 mesh (D97=23 microns) for high-end coatings and masterbatch customers.
Technical Solution and Engineering Alignment
Mr. Wu recommended a dual-system configuration: two sets of 5R Raymond Mills for the 325-mesh product and one European Type Grinding Mill (ETGM) for the 600-mesh premium grade. The Raymond Mills were selected for their proven reliability, low operating cost, and ease of maintenance in remote locations, while the ETGM's enhanced classifier and higher grinding pressure were specified for the finer product. The system also included a ZSW-380x96 Vibrating Feeder for controlled feed, a series of screw conveyors for powder handling, and a bag-filter dust collection system meeting Kazakhstan's environmental discharge standards.
Technical discussions spanned five weeks, conducted via LinkedIn messaging, email, and scheduled WhatsApp video calls. Henry provided detailed grinding test reports based on a 2 kg calcite sample shipped to XLM's test centre in China, confirming the achievable fineness specifications. Critical climate adaptations were engineered for Kazakhstan's extreme continental climate: the grinding mills were equipped with low-temperature hydraulic oil (rated to -45°C), electric heating systems for lubrication stations to enable cold starts, insulated housing for critical components, and bag-filter dust collectors with anti-freeze protection. Foundation drawings specified frost-resistant concrete mixes and deep foundations (3.5m) below the frost line. Equipment layout plans and a comprehensive spare-parts list optimized for remote Central Asian operations were provided. The contract was signed in September 2022, with a delivery period of 120 days to accommodate rail freight transit and winter construction constraints.
Delivery, Installation, and Commissioning
Equipment was shipped from Qingdao to Almaty via rail freight, arriving on schedule in December 2022. XLM dispatched grinding engineer Mr. Henry Wu and mechanical specialist Mr. Chris Fang to Kazakhstan for a 21-day commissioning engagement. The two 5R Raymond Mills achieved 325-mesh output at 5.0 tonnes per hour per unit (10 TPH combined), and the European Type Grinding Mill produced 600-mesh powder at 3.0 tonnes per hour -- both meeting the guaranteed performance figures for the specified fineness. The heating systems enabled successful commissioning despite ambient temperatures of -28°C during the testing period.
